Regular Show Theory

Regular Show, the popular cartoon aired on CN, is not what it seems. All the things going around the "park" are really hallucinations played out in an asylum. The show also features Mordecai and Rigby alongside the other mental patients - Skips, Pops, Muscle Man, High Five Ghost and Benson.

Mordecai and Rigby are 12-year-old schizophrenics. This explains why both of them act somewhat immature throughout the series. It also explains the unrealistic and physically impossible occurrences. Anyways, Mordecai's parents sent him to the asylum for his mentally unstable behavior. This is where he met Rigby; another kid who, despite their different personalities, shared the same problem as him. They became best friends and both imagined fabricated yet exciting things happening in their lives.

Pops is 94-year-old drug addict who's excess use of drugs made him perpetually childish and high. Muscle Man is a deformed 15-year-old who was despised by his peers and parents. This hostility had been put to such an extent that he tried several times to murder them; hence bringing him to the asylum. He bullies Mordecai and Rigby and has retained an imaginary friend named High Five Ghost.

Benson is 17 years old and shares the same addiction to drugs as Pops. As a child, he was forced into labor by his parents. This ultimately led him to think that he had control over the patients. That's why he is considered the "manager" and all the other characters play along with their own "jobs" too.

Skips assists all of them with their problems. He is a helper in the asylum; that's why when Mordecai and Rigby get themselves into a bad situation, they rely on Skips for info. They have all reached a point where they see themselves as animals and objects and have come to believe that the asylum is a park. Sometimes people from the outside world or patients are dragged into their realities, once again proving that the Regular Show is anything but regular.
