After he did his morning routine, he got on his TV, plugged in a VHS player, and ran the VHS tape. The VHS tape contained a video of Luigi being held hostage. Luigi was calling for help. On Clip #2, a Luigi Doll said, "Now, if you want to save your (cut off)". After that, it cut to static.

Mario freaked out because of this. He looked everywhere for Luigi, and he couldn't find anything. However, he did find Bowser's castle. He went into Bowser's room while Bowser was playing some Mortal Kombat. Bowser said, "Hey! Wanna play some Mortal Kombat with me?". Mario then said, "No. However, do you know where Luigi is?". Bowser then replied, "Oh, I don't know. I think I saw a car driving down Weegee Road. The car had some plastic bag that looked like someone was in it, along with a lot of Luigi Dolls in it."
Mario replied, "Oh, alright. There was a VHS tape about where he was. Wanna help me find Luigi?". Bowser accepted the quest.
