Spongebob: Lost Episode
The finding of the DVD
I was walking to the park one day, and I saw a friend of mine with his mother. We were quite young at the time, and into the show Spongebob Squarepants. It even holds up nowadays. Of course; being the ambitious child I was. I was always on a lookout for extra tapes, lost episodes, or things similar. I walked up to my friend. I greeted him and he told me. "My mom has to go to Best Buy, and she wants me to come. She said if I invite a friend; she'll buy each of us a Spongebob DVD." I was delighted. I agreed to come. My friend and I went to Best Buy with his mother. It felt like years to wait. Finally, she asked us. "What DVDs do you boys want?" I realized I already had all the season DVDs of Spongebob, so I decided to look for a lost episode. I eventually found exactly what I was looking for. It was a tape titled. "Spongebob Squarepants: lost episode." On the cover, it had a picture of Spongebob and Patrick. Happy as could be. So I brought it back to my friend's mother, and she bought the DVD. My friend's mom drove me home. I asked my dad to make me some popcorn, and I got ready to watch the episode
The episode itself
The title screen opened as normal. With the song, and Patchy the Pirate. As usual, Patchy said "ARE YA READY KIDS?" And as usual, with enthusiasm, I responded. "AYE AYE CAPTAIN!" The episode opened with a shot of Squidward's house. He seemed awfully sad. "Why can't I ever get people to like my songs? Why oh why?" This seemed out of character, as despite Squidward's sour demeanor, I noticed he seems to always persevere. Nonetheless, Spongebob jumped up to him and said. "DON'T WORRY SQUIDWARD, YOUR NEXT CONCERT WILL BE FANTASTIC! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA." Squidward seemed annoyed, yet encouraged by Spongebob's words. But nonetheless, he said "KEEP IT DOWN!" Then, it cut to the Krusty Krab. Squidward was staring at his watch, sweating profoundly. He seemed to be waiting for his shift to be over. Patrick walked up and asked for a Krabby Patty. Squidward had Spongebob make a Krabby Patty, and fulfilled Patrick's order, then his watch clicked. "WOO HOO!" Shouted Squidward. Mr. Krabs walked out to tell Squidward and Spongebob that their shifts were over, but Squidward had already bolted out the door. Similar to the very first episode, except this time, Squidward, he continusly shouted. "I'M READY! I'M READY! I'M READY!" After he ran for a bit, the screen cut to his concert.
The concert.
Squidward got on stage, and looked at his music. He inhaled, and exhaled. It seemed as if all of Bikini Bottom was at his concert. After Squidward built up his nerve, he began to play. It sounded, as usual, terrible. Although, it began to pick up. It got more and more good as it continued. The crowd began to cheer. Suddenly, Spongebob's laugh of happiness carried throughout the crowd "BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA." This messed up Squidward's concentration, and his playing went back to it's usual quality. Everyone began to boo Squidward, and threw tomatoes at him. He fled the stage. Squidward began to sob on backstage. "Why oh why...."
The next day
The next day, an extremely sad Squidward woke. He walked down the streets. Spongebob walked out to greet him "HEYA SQUIDWARD!" Spongebob said, in his usual happy voice. Squidward didn't seem to be in the mood to talk. He just kept walking with his head hung low. Spongebob said "I HOPE TODAY IS A GOOD DAY AT WORK!" Squidward sighed, and followed Spongebob to the Krusty Krab. Squidward seemed lacking to serve the customers, being extremely slow. The screen cut to him exiting the Krusty Krab. Plankton suddenly emerged from the Chum Bucket. Plankton approached Squidward. "Want some revenge on the people that rejected you?" Squidward turned to Plankton. He nodded. Plankton motioned to follow him. Squidward walked into a test tube. When Plankton turned it on, Squidward became a hulking monster. "It'll last for a few hours, just long enough for your revenge!" Squidward ran outside. He began to destroy everything, buildings fell, and fires burned. Eventually, the Strength wore off. Squidward suddenly felt the sins of what he had done. The scared townspeople sat there, frozen. Squidward simply began to walk home. As he did, the townspeople, enraged, began. Throwing Tomatoes at him, berating him, and insulting him. Squidward saw some police, and fled home as quickly as possible. Squidward eventually made it home, a mess. He entered his bed.
Epilogue (of the episode)
Squidward woke. He looked at what remained of Bikini Bottom, with sadness in his eyes. Squidward stared at it for a moment, then began to walk away. He walked away from it all. He just walked beyond. He walked away from Bikini Bottom. I couldn't tell where he went. Eventually, it cut to a title card
[3 Months later.]
It cut to Squidward, he looked terrible. He looked ruined. He just kept walking. Even when he fell, he kept crawling. He kept going away from Bikini Bottom. He just kept going. Eventually, he stopped moving. His corpse sat there for a moment, unnerving. Squidward's ghost then left the body. It kept going. The screen then cut to a message. "He kept walking, his punishment for destroying Bikini Bottom that he put on himself, was to eternally try to escape his sins. He shall eternally walk, that sandy road. Until the end of time." The episode then ended.
Epilogue
I felt saddened by the episode, and I decided to show it to my dad. My dad watched it, and he seemed sad as well. My sins were felt on my back. Eternally Squidward shall attempt to escape his sins. Do not be like him, confront your sins, and you shall not have to eternally walk the road. As for the DVD, I put it in my dad's computer. My dad sent it to a Nickelodeon producer. They had nothing to say, except to send them the DVD. They gave their address to him, and he put the DVD into a case, put the case in a box, and mailed it to the producer. I do not know the fate of it, but I hope it is never shown again. Of course, it never made me not want to watch Spongebob, I still love the show. It sometimes reminds me of the episode, however. And I feel my sins weighing on my back.
