The Book

In every church in the world, there's a room that no one ever thinks about going into. One cannot recall its existence through conscious thought, but as long as someone in that building is reciting the Lord's Prayer you run a chance of walking into it without thinking of it. The room has no doors, not even the door you came through, and it is only lit in the distance between you and the book that sits within that room. When you open it the pages will turn to a substance somewhat like human flesh that is immensely hot and yet does not burn, only melts and sticks to you as if trying to eat you. If you manage to close the book back without dying, you will meet God. God has taken some similar actions to the Abrahamic God, but he is different. He is a ball of viscous flesh, he is subsentient, and if you touch him you will be augmented by God's power, which will give your nervous system such sensitivity and acuteness that no matter how minor a tactile sensation is, the brain will interpret it as a scraping pain which is beyond infinite, beyond the combined suffering of every human in the history of the earth or the other planets God has created God is at least semi-sentient and will know how you feel, but he does not feel pity. He will send you back to that room with the door you came through restored.

If you can read your way through the book, which details immensely personal horror and humiliation written about the person you love most, you will become God.
