The Brick (Blockland)
It was a dark night outside, and I had nothing better to do, so I decided to build a deathmatch city on Bedroom Dark. I was trying to give it an apocalyptic kind of feel, so I created a bunch of Jersey barriers and fires, and some made a couple of half-broken street lights.
I was in the middle of inventing a bot when I heard a brick clicking sound, that noise that plays when you plant a brick. I canceled the events and looked around it--sounded really close.
Near one of the fire emitters, I saw a red 1x1 brick. I walked over and figured I must have accidentally placed it there earlier. I destroyed it with the hammer.
I went back to inventing the bot for a few minutes when I heard the sound again.
This time, the brick plant sound seemed even closer. I exited the events screen and saw a 1x1 brick about 20 blocks away. I didn't even bother moving this time, I just used the admin wand to destroy it.
I duplicated a few more bots and was setting their appearance when I heard the click one more time. I turned around, angry now, and saw that the red 1x1 was only five blocks away. I got out the hammer and hit it a few times.
The brick wouldn't break. A message kept coming up: "BL_ID: -7648 does not trust you enough to do that".
I was confused now. BL_ID: 7648 was my ID. But why was there a negative sign before it?
Luckily, I was able to destroy it with the admin wand.
All of a sudden, the light emitters closest to where the 1x1 brick had been just disappeared. When I clicked on those bricks with the wrench, they showed that the emitters were still there. I couldn't see a thing, though. Then, I hear a terrible sound– the sound of destroying bricks. I turn on the player light and see that my entire city was gone.
Distressed, I quickly opened up my save menu to load the most recent progress--but there was practically nothing there. 150+ of my previous saves were gone. There was only one remaining save able to be loaded, "Demo House."
I wanted to find out what was up with this whole situation. I loaded the build, and could see only the back of the house and the jeep- it looked normal from where I was.
As I got closer, I saw that was not the case. The colors were distorted and inverted, with horrible strips of piercing blue and blood red colors that weren't even in the default color-set. As I stepped inside the small house, I heard a demonic screeching noise– the sound of every Blockland sound effect played at the same time backward, in G major. My computer screen went completely red and Blockland refused to respond.
I have a new computer now, but that doesn't matter. The old one never got fixed, and is sitting in my basement. It still has a glowing red screen, even though it's been unplugged for a few months now.
