The Gameboy

It all started when my brother and I were both ten. We had been begging our mother to get us a gameboy and a Pokemon game. She finally gave in and went to the store. When she got back she threw the game and the gameboy on the couch. We were so excited! We rushed to the couch, my brother grabbing the gameboy and me grabbing the game, but something was off. The game looked like a bootleg pokemon game marked in crude handwriting: Pokemon (The rest was unintelligible.). We stared at each other, but decide to load it anyways out of curiosity. Instead of any normal loading screen the game just started without any warning. My character wasn't named anything. It was just a random series of letters and numbers. Everytime we viewed the stats, the name would change. We had only one pokemon and it was pikachu, but he looked bloody and mangled, and his colors were faded like someone made him black and white. We decided to turn back (We were in a cave covered in pixelated blood) but the message said: "I can't." My brother and I tried it again, but this time it said: "If I turn back, they will get me".

We were both creeped out and decided to move forward into the cave. Every time we went through a door, pikachu and the trainer sprite would get more bloody and mangled. (After five doors he looked disgusting.) We went through door after door of the same room until we saw a sign in the tenth room. I pressed A on it and it said: "They are following you." Then once we got out of the sign it said: "You cannot win." We went through another door, and this time it said: "Pikachu has fainted!" I looked at my brother and he looked as pale as snow. I thought, "What? How could that happen? Must be a hacked game." My brother decided it was enough and went to vomit. I was scared (Not from the game), but for my brother. Then once pikachu fainted, I was teleported to a snowy field. Then the screen went static and a very low buzzing noise emitted from my gameboy. I rushed upstairs to my mom and told her the whole story, while she looked on in horror. She said she never bought me a gameboy and I didn't have a brother.

I ran into my room and noticed cruel scribblings on the wall: "Pokemon," "I cant turn back," and "Pikachu has fainted." That's when I snapped. I ran outside and noticed I was in a world that looked strangely like a fantasy land right out of a pokemon game. A sign was in front of me. "You cannot win." I woke up in my bed the next morning and my mom was never the same. She had the same exact scribbles on her wall. Although one of them said: "Don't forget to get sons a cruel joke."
