The Minecraft Chest Joke
This pasta is about my experience after hearing the April Fools MC joke that Notch set up a while back now. I regret what I did that day and it has certainly scarred me for life.
I had just heard of the April Fools joke on Minecraft that had been removed ages ago. I thought it would be quite cool to see it for myself so I looked for mods about it, all the mods I had found were either surveys (I really don't have time for them) or spam.
I came across one on Google that said "MINECRAFT APRIL FOOLS - MOD REMASTERED. 100% WORKING. NO LAG OR CRASH." I decided to have some lolz as I knew stuff like this (which was practically begging to be looked at as a fake spam) would be set up by a noob or attention-seeker.
Funnily enough, it did actually give me a link to a Mediafire mirror, I couldn't understand it as it was in a different language and I had recently uninstalled Google Chrome (so it wouldn't translate it for me) and tried Safari. I thought "screw it" and clicked the green button as I knew it would always start downloading then.
The usual ad came up as I clicked it, though the actual page was blank. I scrolled down and in the bottom right corner it said "TURN AWAY" in red writing. I thought of this as some kind of sick hack. I was extremely anxious and tired as I had more exams the following day, so I put my laptop on Hibernate and went to bed.
The Next Day
This is where things get messed up, BIG TIME. You know the phrase, "curiosity kills the cat"? Well I felt like I had experienced a "curiosity screws a human". My mind had never been messed up so much. Anyway, I'm gonna continue with the story.
I opened "%appdata%" and clicked ".minecraft" as any other guy would. I then opened the Zip and extracted it to my new folder "April Fools Mod" in my Mod Folder. There was a little read me file that redirected to Notepad. I just wanted to check if I was doing things right so I clicked it. Trust me, I regretted everything.
It was blank again, so I scrolled to the right as there was an unusual amout of space used. I then saw something as I quickly scrolled, I slowly scrolled back. It turns out what I saw was two words. They read "THAT'S RIGHT". I shrugged and continued to scroll, as I came to the end, I was shocked. I read out loud, "YOU KNOW WHAT'S COMING NOW".
I was dazed. I immediately closed that read me and continued as my anxiosity got the best of me. I thought "I've done enough learning, I might as well get back into modding." as my last exam was over. I knew there was nothing left to do after I dragged the files in the 7-Zip minecraft.jar folder. I closed it all down, and opened Minecraft. It seemed that there was a hidden texture pack in those files, and it must have been one of those files where it automatically selects the right folder the place the properties in.
Anyway, the texture pack was a bit shady, as the Minecraft logo and Mojang logo were splattered in blood and were surrounded in a bloodbath, I found this quite cool at the time though, cos I knew I probably had my own little private texture pack. I created a new world, but it teleported me to the seed where the april fools chest was. It said the regular sign about the URL, but I knew the URL wouldn't do anything now, so I right clicked the chest...
Mental note: The texture pack had almost everything covered in blood, the sky was brown like the background in the Nether. I freaked out at that.
I was redirected to Safari and the old website with the store. I had no idea what to do at this time, so I clicked randomly, then they appeared. There they were, the 3 keys to unlock the chest. I was ready for a dino attack, but instead a screamer appeared with a really scary sound, I forgot what it looked like now, but I can say that I saw two blood red eyes. After that, my screen went black. Then some words developed on the screen in red, then I made out the words "YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING NOW". Then my laptop turned off by itself.
Synopsis
I'm gutted I have no evidence as I never thought of pressing F2 at the time.
I'm now freaked out, I can't sleep without getting a chill down my spine every night, and I swear something is lurking in my room. I can't get the feeling out of my head that something is out to get me...
I'm still alive...
