The Missing Ojamajo Doremi Episode
Author's note: I am refering to the characters by their English dub names (ex: Onpu is Ellie)
You know about the Magical DoReMi episode that 4Kids refused to dub, right? Well, that Buddhist kid and ghosts weren't the reason that episode was banned...
I was looking at the DirecTV guide at 2:30am, until I saw something unusual; Magical DoReMi was on TV. Magical DoReMi was an anime dubbed by 4Kids, and it stopped airing reruns 2 years ago.
I tuned to the episode that was airing at an unusual time, but it was noticibly different. First of all, the episode was in Japanese (with subtitles), except for the theme song, which was lower pitched. There was also a notable red tint to the episode. The animation was poor, and there was 5 seconds of static before the episode started. It just didn't have the same happy tone as Magical DoReMi usually has. But the most notable change was Reanne.
Reanne was very rude and didn't act like herself. Her hair was darker than usual, and her bow was red. She looked like an uncreatively recolored by a weeaboo (that apparently knew how to recolor without using MS Paint). But you'd recognize this next change that I'm about to mention, even if you've never watched Magical DoReMi before. That change was her eyes. Reanne's eyes were black, with red pupils. Her voice was also very static, and it wasn't soft at all; in fact, it was very harsh.
There was no preview before the theme song like there normally is. After the theme song ended, Dorie was commenting on how Reanne looked different. Reanne pushed her, and got in trouble with the teacher. A knife slipped out of Reanne's pocket, so she stabbed the teacher. She then proceded to (try to) kill everybody else in her class, but it was the end of the day, so Reanne decided to work this out between Dorie and Mirabelle, in the Lunaverse.
Reanne was not in her witch clothes when she got to the Lunaverse. She knew that Dorie and Mirabelle were already there, because it was test day. Mirabelle questioned why Reanne was wearing her street clothes. Reanne wasn't paying attention because she was too focused on thinking about murder.
Dorie and Mirabelle were somehow transformed into their street clothes. Reanne then proceeded to run over to Dorie, while holding the knife. She stabbed Dorie, twice in the heart, once in the neck, and 5 times in her right arm. Dorie then died, and before the commercial break, it showed a close-up of her dead body. I didn't watch the rest of the episode, because during the commercial break and the rest of the episode, I was in the bathroom throwing up.
A few days after the episode aired, I asked about it on a forum. Someone with the username of @~~! replied to me, saying that it was a US only episode that Toei sent 4Kids instead of Episode 30 because 4Kids was planning on ending the series early. @~~! sent me the tape he/she recorded of the episode.
The tape had the rest of the episode recorded on it. This included Reanne stabbing Mirabelle in all of her arteries, Ellie finding out and fainting, which made Reanne able to kill her as well, and Reanne committing suicide when she got home by hanging herself. I was very disgusted.
Later that week, someone bought a tape with the episode on it, and they showed it to 7 of their friends. On the news, it said that 2 people in the group (and @~~!) commited suicide after watching the episode, one of them is in a mental hospital, one of them went to jail, 2 refuse to agknowledge the episode's existence, and one of them got a seizure while watching the episode, and died later that week in the hospital. I've refused to watch the channel the episode came on ever again. The episode was never reran again.
