White Clock Radio

When I was little, I believe I must've been around five or six years old at the time, I found a white clock radio which was hidden in my parents' closet, under layers and layers of winter clothes. Why it was hidden there was a mystery to me; hell, even its sole existence baffled me because my parents already had a clock radio, sitting on their nightstand. Curiosity got the best of me and I smuggled the little device into my own room, where I promptly plugged it in. Soon, it became apparent to me why my parents had put it away and bought a new one: on all the channels there was only static to be heard. On all the channels? No, by accident I found out that when you put the dial exactly in the middle between the 92 and 96 MHz marks, you were able to receive local police radio signals, and crystal clear at that. This exited me greatly, of course. For days on end I would listen to this channel, and pretend that I was a police officer.

Until one day, when I decided I wanted to actually join in on the action. When there was a bit of silence between the two policemen speaking, I pressed the snooze button and spoke into the radio's speaker:

"This is car 505 in hot pursuit of the suspects!"

At first, the two policemen said nothing. And then, all of a sudden, I heard: "... Car 505? Who the fuck is car 505? This is the police frequency! Who's on this channel?" I got scared shitless (I figured I was in some big trouble right now!), yanked the plug out of the wall socket, ran to my parents' bedroom and hid the clock radio under these layers and layers of winter clothes.

I've never seen it again.
