WoW: The Valley of Terror

It was Tuesday, August 23, 2011.

I had not played WoW in a while due to my current obsession with Steam games, but something made me want to play it again. Anyway, I decided to join a new server, Agrammar. It was full normal server, very simple for my current rustiness of the game. I created an Orc warrior named 'Grukk', referring to the Orcish style of naming (even though I wasn't on an RP server) I started in The Valley of Trials, and everything seemed very normal. At first, I went to start my first quest; kill 6 boars. After doing this I headed back to the Questgiver, but I noticed something odd. I saw an npc, Farmer Lok'Lub and his wife, standing there still without any blinking or such. Now, I know that this is a reference to the piece of art 'American Gothic' but something was wrong. Lok'Lub's pitchfork was being held horizontally like an actual weapon instead of vertically.

I figured it was just a graphical error, so I continued back to the Ques giver. But then something even stranger happened. The textures of the ground begin to move, they pointed north, toward the Burning Blade Coven. As much as I didn't want to go that way, I decided to anyway. As I went there I noticed something eerie. All of the Scorpids and vile familiars were dead. Now, this could've easily another player questing at the same time I was, but first of all, it was half past one (1:30 A.M.) so i didn't expect anyone on at this time of night, and second of all, I saw something that made me want to turn off the game.

The troll Questgiver, Hana'Zua, was also dead. His standard animation is of a dead troll, but his health bar said 'dead' in it so I assumed that someone had actually killed him; possibly a group of alliance who wanted to mess with noobs? Maybe, but I didn't think that they'd come here this late. Then I saw something that I knew was the work of an otherworldly force. As I came closer to the coven, the screen started to shake and the skybox was a faint glowing white (Like when you drink a potion that lets you see spirits or something) and then the death music played (The one that plays when you're walking around looking for your corpse) I checked my buffs, and I had none on, I wasn't dead, I was just a level 1 Orc warrior.

I went into the coven, to see that it was dead empty. The music came to a complete halt. No Felstalkers or vile familiars. I went to both the new and old locations of Yarrog Baneshadow, as expected, he wasn't there either. I checked every inch of the cave, no npcs. I decided to go and leave the cave when I noticed that where I had come from, there now was a mass of slanted wall which seems to have come from a group of rocks that had suddenly blocked me in. I decided to contact a GM to see what the hell was going on. I waited for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, nothing. I decided to give up and log out and exit WoW. The next morning, I came back at 11 A.M. and took a picture of the coven as evidence. I hadn't played since, until today, I checked my server Agrammar to find that Grukk was no longer there. I checked my other servers, no Grukk, nothing spelling out what could've happened to him. I then went to exit WoW.

I thought the entire experience was creepy whatsoever, so I hope you enjoyed my story!
