I'm sure we've all heard of Alvin and the Chipmunks, even if it wasn't that big of a part in our childhood. I'm sure we all know that there's Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. However, little do most people know, there was ORIGINALLY supposed to be FOUR chipmunks! When I was only in first grade, there was an XM radio station called Kenny Curtis's Animal Farm, featuring a fourth and forgotten chipmunk. His name was Dirk. I KNEW for a fact there had to be some footage or CD out there of this Dirk the fourth and forgotten chipmunk. I only found some footage of Dirk a few months ago. I tried contacting Michael Bagdasarian, the grandson of the program creator, Ross Bagdasarian Sr., but he had no idea of Dirk. He sent me his father's email because he might have some sort of idea about who Dirk is. Sure enough, I contacted him because he had to have known about Dirk if anyone alive did (for Ross Bagdasarian Sr. is dead). Ross Bagdasarian Jr. sent me a link to some early Alvin and the Chipmunks footage. After all these years of wondering what Dirk looked like, I HAD to finally find out!

The tape was in all black and white. It featured Alvin, Simon, Theodore, and Dirk. The tape froze up so many times that I thought my computer was lagging. Dirk was definitely the most interesting and sarcastic of the four chipmunks. They probably cut him early on in order to be more kid-friendly. He constantly sassed off RBS (aka David Seville) and even made some pretty inappropriate jokes that I'd rather not say on this site. Without a doubt, Dirk was in deed the funniest! While most give the "cutest" credit to Theodore and most give the "smartest" credit to Simon, I personally give BOTH credits to Dirk. Maybe he wanted to be the lead chipmunk but Alvin, of course, didn't want him to be.

For conclusion, this lost episode was in deed a great find! Considering the XM radio station he was on was quite kid friendly since I listened to it in first grade, I wasn't expecting Dirk to be what he was.
