Laughing Reflection

A man stepped from darkness and told me a joke.

He held a small mirror in front of me as I began laughing. And then he and returned to darkness.

I stopped laughing.

The next morning I rose with the light and looked into a mirror. I froze when I saw my reflection. It was laughing.

I shouted.

Looking straight into my eyes, my reflection continued laughing.

"THIS ISN'T FUNNY!" I screamed.

My reflection looked down and became silent. It began quietly sobbing.

I had to laugh.
