I'd better cut right to it, otherwise this'll drag out for too long.

The other day I was bored out of my mind. MCreator wasn't loading so I couldn't continue on my Minecraft mod, and there was just nothing to do except from playing Angry Birds on Chrome. And that gets boring after a while. So I decided to search up some stuff to do with Sonic. Wallpapers, online games, ROMS, anything. I found a nice looking Sonic-themed wallpaper for the desktop and downloaded it.

My Skype then came up in the notification tray. It was my friend Marc. Usually he'd type 'just like this so u know', but the instant-message was very grammatically incorrect. It was typed like it was pitch black and he couldn't see a thing. It read:

'dwnlod ths filend sefor u rslf' which I easily worked out to be 'download this file and see for yourself'. Following that message was a file sent over from his computer, but it had next to no name. The file was called 'ts.zip'. I began thinking this was some kind of joke that Marc had sent. But something got me a little bit curious. Marc, according to Skype was offline. Shaking it off thinking it was just Skype playing up, I accepted the zip folder and began to download it.

5 minutes later after installing I extracted the ts.zip folder and checked its contents. There was only two things. A .rar file called Too Slow and a .txt document called 'readme'. I assumed this was a hack and opened the readme file, to see what the hack was about. However, the readme file wouldn't open. It just kept becoming unresponsive. After a few minutes of trying, I gave up and extracted the Too Slow.rar file using 7zip. It extracted only one file. This sort of made me think as to why someone would add only one file to a .rar archive.

The file, indeed was a hack. I opened up my Sonic 2 Fusion emulator and loaded the hack. It looked like a very well done hack, although the SEGA chant from Sonic 2 was kind of weird. It made a sound so loud and high-pitched after SE- that I literally pulled my headset off from my head and held it away from me. After the horrible sound had finished, I put my headset back on. It then loaded as normal. There was a custom title screen with a very detailed pixel-art of Sonic and Tails, with the hack's name above them. However, it started immediatly after the opening jingle. There were no options or an actual button to start the game.

I went into the first level, but the name of the Zone was Emerald Hill reversed, and the Act number was messed up. It read lliH dlaremE Act o-09_A:L. I figured this was a glitch of the hack's title card and moved on. The design for the first level was very detailed. It looked as if you were playing in a real life place. Sonic also had a few new moves on his standard arsenal. There was the usual Spin Dash, but added was the Homing Attack/Jump Dash, and two new moves exclusive to the hack. One was similar to Light Attack from the Adventure games (graphic-wise), except it would make the screen flash white, then blue and revert to normal, and make all enemies on screen die. The other one however, was a little bit 'different'. Sonic would jump to the nearest enemy, grab hold of it, fling it down to the ground and Spin Dash on it's body. However, when Sonic finished the Spin Dash part, segments of the pixels on Sonic's quills became red, and Sonic grew a smile. This expanded everytime you used that move. Assuming it was another glitch, I reached the end of lliH dlaremE Act o-09_A:L.

Then came a bit of a 'cutscene'. Sonic looked at Tails then ran off in the opposite direction off the screen. Tails then walked until he got to roughly the middle of the screen, then changed to his waiting animation. Then the sound that you hear when you activate Super Sonic played, except it was slowed and repeated for about 6 or so seconds. The screen then cut to a very dark red. Tails' running animation was playing in the middle of the screen, except it was facing towards me and growing larger, like Tails was running to me. His facial expression showed deep terror and mercy, and held his arms out to the screen, as if wanting me to grab hold of him and pull him out of my computer; which I wanted to do because of his facial expression. Then Sonic faded behind Tails and the screen cut to that same shade of dark red after about a second. Text then appeared on the screen. It read 'I've got him. Come save him player'. I was now convinced this was a horror-based hack.

The next level loaded and I was playing as Shadow (my favourite Sonic character). Shadow's moveset had Homing Attack/Jump Dash like Sonic, Spin Dash (like Sonic), Chaos Spear, Chaos Blast, Chaos Control and Chaos Arrow from Shadow the Hedgehog. The next level, again was very detailed, and the name was also glitched. It read a_ILG..6 sT0Pn()W but the Act number was fine; Act 1. I had an awesome time using Chaos Control and then Chaos Spear to defeat any robots in my way. The zone was rather short, and only had one Act, so the boss was in the same Act. The boss was Eggman in his Drill Car, but his facial expression looked worried, and he moved twice as fast, as though determined to hurry and defeat me. Naturally, the boss was a piece of cake and Eggman flew off, although he 'dropped' something. It looked like a piece of paper. Text then appeared at the top of the screen and said 'He tried to resist, but he ended up bathed in his own inside body. Guess you were too slow'. Sonic then appeared with Tails by his side. And yes, Tails was like described. And Sonic? Sonic was too inhumane to describe.

At that point I didn't want to go on. I forced my computer to shut down and tried to fall asleep as fast as I could. When I did fall asleep, I had a very horribe nightmare. I get these kind of nightmares when something really freaks me out and I can't get it out of my head, and I always wake up like I'll describe. I was lying stuck on my bedroom floor unable to move. My bedroom door opened silently and Sonic (the one in the disturbing hack) peeked round with that inhumane grin and my 'vision' became blurry and started to shake. It was kind of the same as when you get the Nausea effect in Minecraft. And in the background was laughter. A 3-year-old laughing. I awoke on my bed, breathing heavily and panting rapidly, my heart rate much faster than usual. Coldish sweat was dripping down my face and for a brief moment, I could've felt like I was dead.
